Why past, Not present?

Moments of the past that we would like to change come often when we regret certain choices. There are a lot of times when we bring 'if' with a statement of wanting to change the past. Apart from regret curiosity also leads to the question 'What if' it was different?

Robert Frost's " Road Not Taken" talks about two choices that an individual has to choose from. Only one can be chosen but the curiosity of the other choice will make them wonder 'what if' they chose a different path building various scenarios.

Rudyard Kipling's "If" is a poem that brings a lot of choices. The poem talks about how to live a virtuous life and a different opinion from the present.

'What ifs' can also be seen in a negative connotation when an individual is unhappy with their life. Unhappiness leads to the search for alternatives that will only further expand the feeling of loss. One of my friend said, "A person who constantly tries to find faults will not accept the happiness even if served in front of them".

The 'what if' question is not as valuable as it is in the past and bringing the past again will not be a gain for anyone. "The past is in the past. Let it go" ( A song titled "Let it go"). There is no reason to ponder what has already happened because there are a lot more new adventures lined up ahead.

Finding the joy in little things and avoiding the 'what ifs' will bring peace to the chaos. Every individual needs to live in the moment to experience true happiness.
